Grand Yazıcı Marmaris Palace
Large all-inclusive with kids' club and private beach on Pasha Bay.
Check availabilityMarmaris is honestly excellent for families if you accept what kind of family holiday it is — package-tour, all-inclusive, kid-club, water-slide. Resorts like Grand Yazıcı Mares, Marti Resort, and the Icmeler family hotels are purpose-built for this market and they execute it well. Long flat beaches, shallow gentle entry at Icmeler, water parks (Aqua Dream, Atlantis), and the boat trips kids genuinely enjoy. The downside: the town center has a stag-party strip you'll want to actively avoid with kids — base in Icmeler instead, or in the all-inclusive resort cluster east of the marina. Don't try to do "cultural Turkey" from a Marmaris base.
Marmaris for families works in the Içmeler resort cluster — large family pools, kids' clubs, the gulet day-trip harbour, and the dolmuş to Cleopatra Beach as a 30-minute outing. Marmaris for families works in the resort blocks where everything is bundled — pool, beach, kids' club, three meals — and you don't need a car. The Mediterranean-coast resort formula is genuinely good for families with kids 3–13: most properties run a daytime kids' programme, the food is buffet-friendly, and the staff are unfailingly patient. Look for resorts with a real (not decorative) family pool, two-bedroom suites or interconnecting rooms, and a 24-hour front desk for late-arrival contingencies. The dolmuş minibus reaches every town centre for $1–2 if you want to explore beyond the resort.

Look for family rooms, pools, and good transport. Skip the party-heavy neighborhoods.
The calmer bay next door — cleaner water, family-oriented, nicer beach.
İçmeler is Marmaris's quieter neighbour, a 10-minute taxi west around the bay. Same long sand-and-shingle beach, same Aegean water, but the bars are tamer, restaurants close earlier, and most hotels are larger 4-5 star all-inclusives that sell heavily on the British and German package markets. Stay here if you want the resort experience — pool, kids' club, all-meals-included — without Marmaris's late-night noise. The dolmuş minibus runs every 5 minutes to Marmaris if you want to dip in for an evening.
Pick this for a calmer beach stay with easy access to Marmaris's nightlife when you want it.

Turunç is a small bay on the Datça peninsula side of Marmaris, reached by a winding mountain road or by water taxi. The beach is shorter and quieter than Marmaris's main strand, restaurants line a single seafront promenade, and most hotels are family-run boutiques rather than 600-room resorts. Stay here if you want Marmaris-area sun and water but want to avoid the British package-tour crowd — Turunç is where locals from Muğla send their visiting friends.
Pick this for a quieter, locals-favoured cove with the same Aegean water as Marmaris and half the crowds.
Marmaris if you want nightlife, the gulet harbour, and direct access to day boats to Dalyan and Cleopatra Beach. İçmeler (5km west) for families and couples who want a calmer sand-and-pebble beach with all-inclusive resorts and an earlier evening rhythm. The dolmuş between them runs every 10 minutes for $1, so plan to dip into both — sleep in İçmeler, head into Marmaris for dinner.
Içmeler has a longer, sandier beach with more restaurants and water sports. It's family-friendly but can get crowded. Turunç is smaller, pebbly, and quieter — better for swimming and relaxing. The dolmuş from Marmaris to Turunç takes 40 minutes and costs 25 TL; to Içmeler it's 20 minutes and 15 TL. If you want a sunbed without a fight, go to Turunç.
